Flightdeck is a really fun time for the family. It's like a 45-minute video game, but you're sitting in a replica of a fighter jet cockpit. Our teenage boys love it (and are WAY better than their Mom and me...).

The receptionist was nice as polite, but the simulator coordinator wasn't very knowledgeable or very energetic making the experience seem like just another day at work. The simulation itself was rather fun but I highly recommend going in larger groups of friends/ family. With fewer than about 4 people you're subject to being grouped with whoever else books the same time as you which can be good or bad. There's 8 simulators there so if you have 7 friends I strongly encourage that you bring them. There's a radio microphone to smack talk with and the simulation was like a big enhanced video game. All while being suited up in a real air force uniform (optional) to bring more life to the experience. I think overall it gets 3 stars from me because I felt like I just overpaid for a funworks attraction and the atmosphere didn't seem worth a return visit but wasn't bad due to the Groupon discount to at least try once.

I bought one for my father (78) and for my son (11 years old). My top concerns: -would my son be able to figure out the controls and manage on his own? -would my father be able to get in and out of the cockpit? Turns out each participate wears a headset to listen and speak directly to the "control tower". Though it is a little hard to hear what they're saying sometimes, they did manage well. My son, who was at the minimum age to fly, did great. His take offs were a bit off and he crashed on landing, but the second landing he made it much to my surprise! My father had replacement knee surgery in December. By the time we did the flight simulator, it was the end of March. He had a little difficult getting out more than into the cockpit. However, the staff was there and very helpful and gave him the time he needed to carefully get out. The cockpits and screen setups were awesome. The two guys beamed proudly in their jets. They had a blast. And I had fun watching from the lounge. Each flyer is given a number so you can see what they see and watch what they do. At the end, there is a quick debriefing where the pilots are informed of their scores and how they did. All in all, it was a great experience and a lot of fun.!

From Our Editors

"Shake it!" your headset blares as you push on the jet's throttle. Your nose tips, the ground becomes a wall, and you're diving in a last-ditch effort to lose the fighter behind you. Its shots go wide and it swoops overhead, leaving you to level out just as the radio tower ends the dogfight: "Knock it off, knock it off." With your wheels back on the ground, you step out of the simulator's cockpit and catch your friend’s eye: Missed me.

At Flightdeck Flight Simulation Center, aerial battles between friends take place on the ground. The screens of nine authentic military fighter-jet simulators broadcast the same views a pilot might see while soaring at 600 knots. Though the simulators remain on the ground, all the controls, radio orders, and UFO weigh stations mirror those encountered on an actual flight. People may come in with a friend or with a party, where guests and friends target one another during virtual missions, from the introductory Fox-1 experience to the three-hour Viper-1 course, which covers advanced topics such as missile avoidance. After team-building events, participants can even receive personalized dog tags as souvenirs.

Flightdeck Flight Simulation Center also has an exact replica of a Boeing 737-700 cockpit. Inside, a 180-degree wraparound screen transports pilots to airport runways from around the world. Commercial-flight drills present common challenges such as piloting through turbulence and wiping spilled coffee off the controls, testing visitors between their takeoff and landing.
