Curves is the world's largest chain of fitness centers for women, with nearly 10,000 gyms for women in more than 85 countries, and 4 million members worldwide. The Anchorage location, which features all new equipment, invites ladies of all fitness levels to the training circuit, which uses strength training, cardio, and stretching to exercise every major muscle group. Curves members gather in a circle comprised of 12 resistance machines and 12 metabolic conditioning stations. During the course of a 30-minute workout, coaches support women as they alternate between machines that work muscle groups and metabolic conditioning stations where they run, dance, or swagger in place to maintain heart rates. Additional offerings include the Curves workout with Jillian Michaels that uses strength-training machines in conjunction with body-weight exercises and specialty classes such as Body Balance, Arms-Core-Legs, and Stretch & Strength that focus on key areas like balance, strength, and flexibility. Curves also offers the Curves Complete program, which creates a personalized weight-loss plan that pairs diet and exercise with the motivation of peers and trainers.
