Sullivan's Metropolitan Grill at Brookstone, Anderson

If Sullivan's Metropolitan Grill at the Brookstone Golf & Country Club sounds familiar, that's because it is: the restaurant's predecessor in downtown Anderson opened in 1999, and it has become one of the area's most-celebrated establishments in the years since. The Brookstone location, which Bill and Sabra Nickas also run, follows in the original's footsteps by offering many of the same dishes, such as stuffed pork chops and, of course, irresistible from-scratch cakes, pies, and desserts. But Sullivan's at Brookstone has plenty of new surprises on its lunch and dinner menus, including a quarter-pound hot dog loaded with homemade chili and onions. The Brookstone location is also open for lunch on Sunday, unlike the original, which usually sneaks off to a hammock for a nap on Sunday afternoons.
