Most every beer-drinking adult has been on a beer run. But Annapolis Beer Week offers a totally unique take on that idea. This nine-day celebration of local and craft beers kicks off with the Beer Run, a 5K race and 1-mile fun run across the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds. Serious runners take off in the first heat, keeping themselves hydrated at the water stations along the course; those just interested in having fun and raising money for charity can walk the course during the second heat, snagging beers and high-fives from those aforementioned water stations.
But Annapolis Beer Week is an entire week, after all, so there are plenty of other events to keep beer-lovers occupied. One night will feature a pairing dinner held at a local restaurant, and find deals at local pubs during the craft beer pub crawl. One of the most popular events is probably the Pints for Paws night, where attendees sip suds from Yards Brewing Company, DuClaw, Flying Dog, Port City, and others while helping the SPCA of Anne Arundel County.
