Taste Afrik, Arlington

Taste Afrik was born out of the staff's homesickness for traditional African cuisine. Here, the chefs recreate the traditional tastes and dishes of Africa for themselves and their customers. The menu consists of jollof rice and chicken—rice cooked in tomato paste and onions served with marinated chicken—and efo, a mixture of spinach, tomatoes, peppers, and ground meat. Taste Afrik also sells pre-packaged treats like the sweet mini cookies, chin chin, and mix for puff puff—sweet and puffy mini doughnuts.
