Tour guide needs to speak louder and clearer. I enjoyed the tour but 2 of the members in my group said it was bad because they could not hear most of the tour and so it was too long.

I am very glad Atlanta Preservation Center is instrumental in saving these important buildings and sites. This is our history and being a native Georgian who visited Atlanta frequently on weekends as a child and marveled at the gorgeous architecture even then, I'm so thankful there are still many of these landmarks in existance today. Both tours we've taken have been very informative and fun and I think we'll be returning to enjoy the rest of them.

Tours could be slightly shorter. Very interesting however!

We had an exceptionally enjoyable walking tour that ended up consisting of just me, my husband, and our guide. Feeling lucky already, we were especially happy to find our guide charming and full of knowledge. I've never noticed some of the beautiful buildings in Atlanta's downtown before, but I will surely not overlook them again. If you like history and architecture, this is a great thing to do.

From Our Editors

Since banding together in 1979, the historians at Atlanta Preservation Center have helped ward off packs of angry bulldozers from more than 175 endangered buildings. Working alongside local government, businesses, and community leaders, the preservation team has saved elaborate structures including the Peters House and Winecoff Hotel. In addition, its headquarters—the 1856 Grant Mansion in Grant Park—is one of just three antebellum houses left in Atlanta and the team is currently working to restore the building to its architecturally accurate origins. When it isn’t keeping delicate treasures from crumbling, the Atlanta Preservation Center leads walking tours of historic areas and tells embarrassing stories from the days when the city’s buildings were just a bunch of baby bricks.
