I purchased a Groupon for 3 treatment areas on February 25, 2024. On February 26, I sent an email to the business requesting a waiver for the required consultation as I have received laser removal at another business over the past year. In the email, in my first line I specified that I purchased a Groupon & asked for instructions on how to proceed with scheduling with my Groupon. I got a generic reply from the business Monti Laser Flavor stating by opting out I understand the risks of treatment, etc. & links to the consent form.
When I scheduled my appointment, I input my Groupon Voucher ID. The business charged me a holding fee of $65 in case of a missed appointment which I thought was kind of BS, but I understand the burden of missed appointments on small businesses so I understand they often want a retainer. I use Groupon frequently so I am accustomed to how businesses use them & planned to show my Groupon at my appointment as instructed on the voucher.
The day before my appointment, the business texted me asking if it was my first visit & I replied yes. They immediately cancelled my appointment saying I needed a consultation appt until I reminded them I had already received a waiver for the consultation & again, forwarded my email to them which, again, stated I had a Groupon. Monti confirmed that she received and read this email for a second time and scheduled my appointment for the original time.
When I arrived early at 12:34 to my 12:45 appointment, there was an empty waiting area downstairs and empty front check-in desk. waited until 12:46 when Alexis, the technician called me upstairs, led me to the room quickly & asked that I undress. As I was undressed, she asked through the door if I would like to use my card on file. I said I should have the Groupon on file. She said there was no record of this & asked if I had paid anything to the business when I scheduled. I mentioned the holding fee & she informed me that I should not have paid anything and that’s how I would have known my Groupon was accepted by the business. She stepped out to call the owner (Monti) &after some back & forth (I’m still undressed on the table by the way) came back & gave me two options (both involved paying MORE money to the business) – 1) add a 4th treatment area & pay the business more in addition to my Groupon, or 2) pay the entire appt today out of pocket & then use my Groupon later. I felt I was put on the spot & chose the first option thinking I would get service today & not have wasted my time. Nope. The tech informed me that she would not have time to do any treatments today. I called the owner Monti afterward & explained my frustration & disappointment & she was very cold & unapologetic. I was put on the spot and pressured to make the choice to pay more while I was still undressed on the table, and then ended up just having my card charged multiple times without receiving any service. I really don’t want to return to this business AT ALL but at this point I have given them $360 for nothing

1. In regards to the $65 holding fee when using Groupon, neither our staff nor our website mentions that you have to pay this fee. Our website explicitly states, "If you have a package, please DO NOT PAY OR ENTER YOUR CARD INFORMATION, unless you intend to pay for something." However, I understand you mentioned not reading anything on the website.
2. Based on the information provided by our technician and the timeline of interactions, it appears you did not indicate your intention to use a Groupon voucher for the treatment until the treatment process had already begun.
3. You were presented with options but were not pressured to make any choices. Ultimately, you chose the option that suited you best.
4. While I wasn't present during your interaction with the technician, she typically does an excellent job explaining procedures. Also, she is very open and you could have addressed your concerns directly with her during your appointment. When I reviewed the footage you were smiling and laughing during checkout. When you called, you expressed frustration immediately and mentioned leaving a negative review. We empathized with your situation, provided information about the resources available on our website, and encouraged you to make decisions based on what you felt was best for you.
