I usually get the Hibachi, always my favorite but the Groupon was for Hot Pot. The value of the groupon was worth the money, there was plenty of food for two. The place is a lot more then I remember it being back in 1997. I may not have understood but the sushi was $4 EACH where I am used to a $13 roll I didn't see that option. The best they had was for $20 I got a chief sampler and it came with 5pcs fish on rice sushi, a small avocado roll and miso soup. That was a reasonable price but still a little high compared to most Japanese Steak Houses I can get the fish for $9-10 The soup was better then any I have had elsewhere, the sushi was average, I liked the hot pot but not my wife. The Hot Pot was similar to Chinese Hot pot. There are two flavors either Boil the meat and vegs in water then dip in a sesame sauce, or cook everything in a sweet soy sauce. I went for the one cooked in sauce. I liked it but my wife found it challenging to eat, she lacks the chop stick skills and the soup spoon made it impossible for her to eat. (they do provide forks) The only starch option is noodles, and not many, they are good but I was hoping some white rice to go with the meat and vegs, to soak up some of the broth. I guess that's a more traditional Chinese Hot Pot and not the Japanese. I'd like to try the other version but not sure I'd want to spend $40 for the hot pot when Hibachi is about the same and my opinion a lot better. There was no kids menu, or we were not shown one. So they got chicken fried rice. They seemed to like it but to me it was really bland, not near as tasty as the fried rice from the Hibachi. It's possible it was just bland in comparison to the BOLD hot pot sauce? I intended this to be something for just the wife and I but last minute we brought the kids. It's just a beautiful place to take a date, but not really made for families with young kids.
