I'm always wary of zoos ever since I was a kid and the local zoo had a polar bear locked up alone in a small cage. It was terrible. This place is not like this at all. It is funded rather thinly I am sure but they do a good job for animals that don't know how to live in the wild. I do wish the dingoes had a larger area - there seems to be more space beyond their fence. Perhaps I should get some other Aussies like me to cough up some money to extend the fencing. One or two of the birds seemed to me to have rather small cages. But in the main the animals have a fair amount of space. The last zoo I went to was in Belize and it was fantastic. It is clearly better funded and it shows. So I highly recommend going. Attendance after all will increase their revenue and help them to look after animals that have often been abused.

The fellow that is the owner/operator is extremely nice and took time with our 4 grandsons and made them feel special. The place itself is very rustic and not great for strollers however, it is a rescue zoo and not the San Antonio or Houston zoo. The animals all seem very taken care of and it was really a lot of fun for our 2, 4, 5 and 8 yr old's. Not to mention we grown ups in the group. The picnic area could have been fixed up a bit but it was comfortable and we were entertained by a few of the local peacocks strutting their stuff. All and all a great time.

A weird, little place, but fun for little kids. Who wouldn't love to feed 1000 guinea pigs and a hippopotamus?

Not a bad place to go to. Be prepared to pay taxes on the Groupon and a cup of food for the animal will cost you about $4.
