Five Things to Know About Jack Allen’s Kitchen
Established by executive chef and owner Jack Gilmore, Jack Allen’s Kitchen utilizes local ingredients to create Southern-inspired feasts at three locations in the Austin area. Each spot offers something a little different, though. Here are a few more things to know before you stop by:
They source ingredients from an ever-changing lineup of purveyors. They keep an updated list of their current partners here.
A complimentary appetizer precedes every meal. It consists of Jack’s signature pimiento cheese and crisp flatbread crackers.
The menu is different at each location. That’s especially true of the nightly dinner specials, which are added to the regular menu every day.
Don’t miss Sunday brunch. The brunch buffet is especially popular, but you can also order silver-dollar pancakes and biscuits and gravy from the kitchen. Bloody Marys and freshly squeezed mimosas are also available.
You can replicate your favorite meal at home. The restuarant’s cookbook not only features more than 150 recipes built around fresh Texas ingredients, but it also has profiles of the local farmers and purveyors who supply those ingredients.
