About Lions Municipal, Jimmy Clay, Morris Williams, Roy Kizer, Hancock Golf Courses
With six golf courses under its jurisdiction, Golf ATX Golf Courses represents a wide variety of golfing environments in the city of Austin. From the links-style layout of the Roy Kizer course to the forested fairways of the Jimmy Clay course, the diverse array ensures golfers of all stripes will find their ideal stretches of greenery.
- Hancock Golf Course
Founded in 1899, Hancock represents not only the oldest course in the Austin Parks system, but also one of the oldest courses in all of Texas. Though short by modern standards, the 9-holer features plenty of rolling hills and intersections with Waller Creek.
- Lions Municipal Golf Course
Affectionately know as "Old Muni," this venerable course, built in 1928, has hosted famed golfers from Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson to Ben Crenshaw and Tom Kite—who despite his family's lineage, never became a championship kite flyer. Its gentle waters belie the hazards throughout its 18 holes.
- Morris Williams Golf Course
This course, opened in 1964, is named after decorated golfer Morris Williams, Jr., one of the best golfers to ever develop in Austin. Today, it challenges players with a combination of elevated, contoured greens and rolling terrain.
- Jimmy Clay Golf Course
Cerebral course designer Joe Finger designed the Jimmy Clay Golf Course in 1974, and its subtle, tree-lined fairways have welcomed players ever since. A 2007 renovation added a tricky water element, complete with an island green.
- Roy Kizer Golf Course
Spread across acres of wetlands, the links-style course is home to migratory waterfowl, as well as golfers of all skill levels.
