About Ikaros Restaurant

Since 1969, the Kohilas family has been at the helm of Ikaros Restaurant, which was praised in a 2011 review in the Baltimore Sun for its smart and careful food preparation just as much as its longevity. Over the years, the menu has not changed much, with chefs continuously crafting classic Greek dishes such as mousaka—a dish of eggplant, potatoes, ground beef, and béchamel sauce—as well as the more locally inspired Maryland crab cakes. Supplementing authentic eats, customers can enjoy background Greek music or occasional live music in the dining room.

There seemed to be a problem in the kitchen, maybe because there was a gathering upstairs. It took awhile to get seated and then to place our order. Salads came and then nothing happened for almost an hour. The waitress did bring an epplant dip on the house. When we asked where our dinner was. The food was delicious, as usual, however!

This is my favorite Greek restaurant in Baltimore. I have been dining here for at least 30 years and would always bring my out of town guests to Ikaros. The food is consistently good, excellent service and reasonably prized. The best fried calamari in town!
