El Porton Mexican Restaurant, St. Louis

This was our second visit here. The food is really good but the place is old and there never seems to be anyone there. We visited on a Friday night about 6 p.m. Only two other tables with people when we arrived. One more table was filled before we left. Not sure if this is a lunch place or it just isn't bringing people in. My wife had fish tacos that she described as one of the best she has ever had. I had a fajita taco salad which was very good. Started off with chips and salsa which are free. The chips are different and very good as was the salsa. Both of us liked our food. So why would I rate it so low? The ceiling is stained throughout the restaurant. Bathroom is dirty and toilet didn't flush correctly. As mentioned, it is old and either needs to be updated or move. Still the food was very good.
