The fish & chips are the bomb. Crispy batter and suffI cent fish so the batter doesn't overwhelm the fish. Haven't been Sonim pressed with their Banoffee pie it doesn't taste like a real one & they don't use the right milk. English lass

The food was good when it finally came BUT both times we were there, our order got messed up. The first time it was a pizza that we ordered as starter that ended up coming when we were finished with our meal. Tonight we made sure we were not bil

We ordered fish & chips ($15), bangers and mash ($15) and pizza ($12) to fulfil the $40 Groupon. The bill came to $36+ (fish & chips were $9 instead of $15) and we left after leaving a $6 tip. We were called back to the restaurant by the server. The manager, who was waiting for us outside the restaurant, said that the fish & chips were the special of the day and it cannot be included in the Groupon. She said she had informed my husband of the special (I was at the restroom). (We came to this Pub to eat British food; special or no special.) I told the manager that it would not occur to my husband that by informing him of the specials, it was not to be included in the Groupon (neither would it have occurred to me (of course now I read it in the small print!)) The manager said that I should have informed them that I was using Groupon. I said I informed the server when she was seating us, and again when we ordered the food. The manager wanted us to pay for the fish & chips. I agreed but said I would like to utilize the full value of the coupon and asked whether I could order take away to make up the difference. She refused to accommodate saying that I have to dine in to use the Groupon. I conceded but informed her that I would add it to the doggy bag of my leftover bangers and pizza. I went back to the restaurant, sat at the table, and ordered chicken ($12). I was rather disheartened that after insisting that I dine in, I was not treated as a diner – I say this because there were no utensils or water offered. The revised bill incurred a payment of $11.88. The restaurant gained a profit of $2.00 and because of its inflexibility, put the diner through an unpleasant experience/hassle by enforcing the motions of “dine-in” which anyway resulted in a take-away (doggy bag)! P.S. If you publish this review, kindly use pseudonym – “PC”. I would also like to mention that the mozzarella pizza was soggy. Not sure whether the cheese was meant to be concentrated in the center leaving a border of almost 2" of crust.

From Our Editors

Though devoutly British in name, Union Jack's British Pub is actually a transatlantic blend of both English and American conventions. Inside the expansive space, stone walls and a fireplace bear a distinctly European feel, though HD plasma TVs and projection screens broadcast games of hockey and American football. The food menu retains a similar dichotomy, offering up options such as Maryland crab cakes, fish and chips, and Caribbean jerk chicken sandwiches. The two nations fully unite at the handsome wooden bar, where guests can sip on one of 16 drafts, ranging from Fuller's London Porter to state-sourced Samuel Adams. Should cultural clashes persist, patrons can retire to the billiards room after their meal to settle disputes over the proper pronunciation of "aluminum."
