When the sun is hot, there's no better sound than the ding-a-ling of the paletero. But you can't always find him when you need him—and if you want a paleta in the winter, you're just out of luck. Or, you could go to La Michoacana. Little bits of bubblegum are suspended in the chicle paletas, and the decadent paletas de crema include one made with Ferero Rocher chocolates. Those who are unfamiliar with the wonders of iced Mexican desserts should definitely try some of the more exotic flavors, such as nieves de queso (a sweet ice cream made with cheese) and the explosively refreshing mangonada de pepino (a mix of cucumber, lime, chiles, and mango).
