Food at both locations is good, with friendly service and reasonable prices. I took a friend today to celebrate her birthday, and I took home an order for later. The Helotes locations has a big, well-treed patio, but it was too chilly to eat out there today.

fajitas and crunchy tacos were great! They start you with a small bowl of charro beans that my wife says are the best ever! Lung Ch specials are good til 3 pm. This is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in SA!

Big plates. May want to share. Salsa has a little kick, just like I like it (not too spicy). Chips are good. Kids meals are a bit pricey. Cheese enchiladas are standard, but have a good flavor.

More than 40 years ago, Charlie and Mary Garcia founded El Chaparral Mexican Restaurant to share their culinary heritage with the local community. Though the business has now been passed down to the next generation of the family, the restaurant adheres to the made-fresh recipes of its early days, delighting diners with hearty enchiladas, fresh seafood dishes, and its signature bean soup.
