Make sure to bring a cooler to tubing!! They provide cooler tubes, so your cooler safely floats by your side :)

Very kid friendly--we had a group of 7 to include an 8 y/o and (2) 3 y/os who had a blast. The views were beautiful. A couple really low spots on the river but overall a great time!! Friendly staff. FYI -No ice, beverages, or sunblock on site but they said they might next year. About 10 miles from town.

Bring a small umbrella if they are calling for rain. Wear waterproof shoes. Come and spend the whole day, weather permitting. Bring a few dollars to tip the very nice staff.

Great tubing, relaxing beautiful trip. Even for an old woman like me. Ask for the tubes with bottom, extra special.

From Our Editors

Wahoo’s Adventures is one of the original whitewater outfitters, having facilitated outdoor excursions on rafts, tubes, canoes, and kayaks for over the past three decades. Whitewater-rafting tours take place upon the Watauga River, the Nolichucky River, and Wilson Creek Gorge, three waterways with differing levels of frothiness, much like three cappuccinos ordered by a family of bears. Alternatively, adults without rafting experience and children as young as 6 months can lazily drift down the New River while sprawled across tubes. As they pass rugged hillsides and scenic farmland, tubers can smell wildflowers, listen to chirping birds, and keep eyes peeled for Sasquatch footprints. Keeping clients safe is Wahoo’s main priority, which is why their experienced guides equip adventurers with high-quality life jackets, helmets, and paddles before taking the water.
