At Aspetuck Brew Lab, good beer is elementary. Chief beer scientist Peter Cowles has spent nearly two decades studying, brewing and pushing the boundaries by experimenting with different beer styles. The result is a lineup of fresh, flavorful award-winning beers across a broad range of styles.

Aspetuck Brew Lab visitors can try eight beers at the brewery's taproom, a modern and airy family-friendly space that is open Friday–Sunday. Here are a few selections that might be on tap:

• 06605 Pale Ale: Single malt-and-single-hop pale ale brewed with Mosaic hops (5.6% ABV)
• beer.I.am: Non-traditional IPA with a pilsner malt base and New World and citrusy American hops, lemony and dry (6.7% ABV)
• Saison: Belgian-style farmhouse ale made with a classic yeast strain (6.7% ABV)
• Empirical Evidence Imperial IPA: Tropical and juicy citrus flavors tantalize the palate, finishes dry (8.1% ABV)
