Brewery, Winery & Distillery
WASTE... coupon said message for reservations and by the end of July the place is closed to the public until March of next year :/
I was worried at first. When I emailed them about an appointment, they didn't respond for 2 weeks, and then they said the next tasting appointment opening wasn't for another 2 weeks. I had already bought the Groupon of course, so I booked it. On that day, I was running late, so I searched high and low for a phone # to call to give them a heads-up that I was stuck in traffic (my bad, totally). I finally managed to find someone's cell phone in the chain of emails.. there was nothing on the website, which was frustrating. The place was also very hard to find.. Google took us to the wrong side of the Camarillo airport. So make sure to use the map on theri website.
When we finally did arrive, the guy (Scott, I think?) gave us a very thorough and informative tour. He definitely knew his stuff. I was surprised and impressed by their process and inventiveness. The final product was also very, very good. I ended up purchasing a bottle to take home (not cheap, but a fair price for good brandy).
Definitely worth giving these guys a shot.
Small facility. Good brandy.
From Our Editors
Inspired by the abundant fruits, vegetables, and flowers that fill southern California's gardens, the distillers at Birdview Distillery have turned their childhood experiments with fermentation into a sophisticated modern distillery that's home to their distinctive cactus brandy. Using a proprietary process, they transform this desert plant into a smooth, singular spirit, one that comes in both aged and unaged varieties that highlight its ever-changing flavor profile.
