Mark Oberman began flying to the Channel Islands in 1975. In 1976, Mark and his wife Janie opened Channel Islands Aviation. More than 35 years later, their certified pilots still fly charters out of Camarillo Airport and organize multiday camping and hiking trips on Santa Rosa Island.
In the Cessna Pilot Center flight school, instructors train pilots of all experience levels with an up-to-date Redbird flight simulator and hands-on flights. Lessons prepare fledgling fliers to obtain their private-pilot, instrument-rating, single-engine-commercial, or CFI-training license.

The flight to and from the island was simply awesome, so much more than a commercial flight experience. We weren't planning to take the SUV ride, happy hikers that we are, but our pilot and (as it turned out) tour guide Tom's knowledge of the island combined with a great sense of humor really added dimension to what was already a great experience. We are really glad we took the SUV ride and we still had time for a modest hike.
