When I arrived for my daughter's free trial class and I told them I had a Groupon they informed me that I cannot combine discounts and that I could NOT get the free trial class and then the month of classes I already paid for with the Groupon. I said, "fine" but I was not happy about it. Next they informed me that in the month of October there are 5 Tuesdays (the day that worked with our schedule for my daughter's class time). They said I would need to pay for the "extra" class in October since the Groupon only was for 4 classes. I said, "well we won't be here on October 31st anyway so we can skip it or make it up the next day on November 1st". They said that either of those options would mean that I had to pay for a "fifth" class still. I then asked them if they charge other customers an "extra" class fee when there are 5 of a specific day in a calendar month. They said "no we don't charge them". I was furious. So I changed my daughter's class time to Fridays instead so that her class during the week of October 30th would fall on a November calendar date (November 3rd) which did not work as well with our schedule but I refused to pay for a "5th" class in the month of October so I made the change. When we went to our last class that was part of the Groupon at the end of October I went to go pay for November tuition when we arrived. They informed me that I had a balance on my account for the "extra" class. I said, "absolutely not". We got that cleared up and then she asked me if I was paying with a card today. I said yes and then she said my total which was $1.65 more than what the tuition was. I asked why and she told me that they charge a fee when you use a card to pay your tuition! So I got grumpy and grumbled under my breath that they were trying to "nickel and dime me with everything I had been doing with their facility so far". I reluctantly paid with a check. The owner happened to be standing nearby and overheard our conversation. The owner was very nice and before I left the counter he slipped a business card across the counter with "December is free" written on it. I thought, "great he has made up for the awful experience I have had this far". Then while my daughter was having her class I looked around at all the notices and posters they had up around the waiting room. One of them stated that during the holidays the facility would be closed on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of Thanksgiving week and the whole week in December that included the day of Christmas. Fine- I got it. But then I further read that they would not have any makeup times or refund for any of those classes during those times! So I wasn't really getting what the owner said because I was going to lose a day in November which I had already just paid for (so I got 3 classes instead of 4 because I had to change my day to Fridays)! So there happens to be 5 Fridays in December so I will still get 4 classes in that particular month if I don't change my class back to Tuesday (which they let you change class days once for free and after that they start charging a fee for that too!). Then the following weekend I got an email stating that they were going to increase tuition at the beginning of January! I gave this facility a 3 because my daughter loves the gymnastics lessons but management has not been very forthcoming with any type of rules in regards to the Groupon offer they had, increasing tuition, holiday closings, etc. I feel that the management team needs to be much more transparent RIGHT AT THE VERY BEGINNING when a customer signs up with their facility in regards to fees, rules for how many classes in a month are included, holiday days with regards to make ups and refunds and much more flexible with the Groupon customers (since you can only use the Groupon if you have never been a customer there). This is their first experience with their facility. That's just good business. If Hurricane didn't like the cost/benefit ratio that came from the use of Groupon then don't do the Groupon again and treat the customers with respect that purchased it this time. I felt that there was a lot of lying through omission going on here. I want to reiterate though that my daughter has loved the lessons therefore I give them a "3".
