First I want to say that the Illinois Dental Center that I redeemed my Groupon at is 6051 W. Belmont in Chicago. The dentist that worked with me was Dr. Arshia Taranum, DDS.
The service was quick--I was out of there in two hours.
The assistant X-rayed my teeth immediately, however, the Doctor's consultation was offensive and disrespectful. She continued to encourage me to have teeth removed that I have no desire to lose; one that I know can be saved with grafting--but she insisted that grafting would not help at all. The rest of my teeth are firmly planted. At one point she said there is no since trying to save teeth in a person that does not brush and floss their teeth. I brush my teeth every day and floss immediately after meals; I even carry a dental pick with me to dislodge any food flossing may have missed, and I use coconut oil as an antiviral/antibacterial mouthwash. Her chair side manner was sorely lacking to say the least.
I have periodontal disease so I needed a scaling instead of a regular cleaning, but I was charged the full rate of a scaling instead of the cost difference between a regular cleaning and a scaling--which I consider a gyp since the Groupon covered X-rays, consultation, and cleaning. When I got back at my house, I examined my teeth for scaling and found quite a lot left on my teeth.
The professionalism of other Doctors at Illinois Dental Centers must vary; I can only evaluate the one that I worked with; to my dismay. I hope this helps anyone out there with periodontal disease that plan to use the Belmont avenue Illinois Dental Center.
