Michael Anthony Salon & Spa, Chicago

As part of its earth-focused mission, Michael Anthony Salon & Spa uses exclusively plant-based products from Aveda. In the salon, staffers incorporate these products into vibrant highlights or moisturizing botanical hair and scalp treatments. In the spa, aestheticians use them to smooth faces with botanical peels or customize Elemental Nature facials to a range of skin types. Full-body treatments, meanwhile, shroud guests in seaweed masques and rosemary-mint wraps designed to tone skin and finally reveal what the inside of a salad smells like.

Michael Anthony Salon & Spa also cares for the earth through design. The recently renovated studio is decorated with zero-VOC paint and biodegradable wall coverings. Clients are illuminated by efficient LED lights as they settle into furnishings made from reclaimed Forest Stewardship Council–certified materials. To further its mission, Michael Anthony Salon & Spa also partners with Alliance for the Great Lakes during Aveda's Earth Month campaign.
