In 2016, the over-90-year-old LondonHouse Chicago building was re-opened after construction—what was at one time a jazz club, and at another a corporate office, is now a luxury hotel that blends historic, Chicago-style stone architecture with contemporary glass features and modern amenities to match.

The Spa at LondonHouse Chicago is one such amenity, offering both outside visitors and guests at the hotel a grand, relaxing experience. Their services include facials, massages, manicures and pedicures, and body treatments like the espresso scrub—which, in addition to a shot of espresso, includes a massage using coffee beans, honey, and essential oils.

The spa company for London House is the same for the Intercontinental Hotel. The Intercontinental offered more amenities than London House such as pool and sauna so I used my groupon at Intercontinental. The facial and swedish massage were both wonderful! The overall spa experience was subpar: no initial greeting with robe, long walk with stairs to massage room. Unreal.

I rounded up, this is really a 2.5. It was fine for what I paid (about half the regular price) but I would never go back and would suggest going somewhere else. Not sure exactly what the “body melt foot therapy” was since she didn’t do anything special with my feet besides the normal massage. She also didn’t use lotion on half my body and midway through started aggressively toweling off my legs. If you want a deal, then it’s fine but I would suggest paying a little more and going somewhere better. Also, the booking process was horrific - they don’t answer the phone and make you text, and send across the Groupon code through text and make you pay for the tip beforehand.
