What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition? We teach traditional Japanese Jiu Jitsu and effective, realistic, self-defense. Our dojo has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere where people of all ages, shapes, and sizes can learn this art from highly skilled and qualified teachers. We do not focus on any type of completion based fighting and there are no tournaments or trophies. We only challenge our students to come to class with an open mind, ready to learn, and get a little bit better every day.

What was the inspiration to start or run this business? Bushido Martial Arts Academy is run out of a true love for the art of Jiu Jitsu. We want students to feel like they are entering a positive place of learning without ego or pressure. The two head instructors have a combined 60 years of experience and love to share their passion for Jiu Jitsu.

What do you love most about your job? The most rewarding part of teaching adults is when you can see the change in their attitude from when they walk in the door after a hard day. The spark in their eyes when they learn something new or achieve something they didn’t expect is always amazing. After teaching Jiu Jitsu for over 25 years, it is still amazing to watch the excitement catch in each and every class.

What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer? Most people think they need to be in great shape to begin training or worry about being the wrong age to start. The truth is that no one ever regrets coming to class, only that they didn’t start sooner. The best reaction we get is when students tell us how we improved their lives in so many ways. This is a testament to the art of Jiu Jitsu, the passion of the instructors, the friendly students, and positive environment.
