The MudZilla Mud Run may be a 5K, but anyone who only knows its length is in for a surprisingly intense (and dirty) adventure. The race unfolds at the Mount Crescent Ski Area, which means sloping turf covered—per the race's name—with gallons of mud. But that's not the only source of difficulty. Racers should also factor in the many obstacles, which range from wall climbs to monkey bars over mud pits. It's all worth it, though, when mud-caked participants finally slog past the finish line to the after party. There, they can refuel with frosty beer and platefuls of barbecue and dance to celebratory tunes.
