I bought two groupons. I used one. At that time there was very little produce/items to pick from. I went back to the farmers market 3 more times and Garden Inspirations was not there. My Groupon after that was expired.

The class was held on card tables in a cramped living room at the home of one of the owners. This was not disclosed in the details about the Groupon and everyone nervously joked about being afraid that they might be killed rather than learn to can. The driveway was pitch black and the pathway was blocked by tree branches, so it was very unsafe. The ladies teaching the class were friendly, but it seemed like they hadn't really coordinated what was going to be said and they kept reiterating that they were not yet a commercial kitchen. Like the fact that the class was being held in a home, this needs to be disclosed to Groupon customers. I was very disappointed in my experience and thought I might have been too critical, but when I talked to my roommates they confirmed that it was extremely strange and below what I expected from Groupon.

Love all the offerings they have to help teach about organic gardening and canning. Just wish it was a little closer than they are.

My sister, daughter and myself attended a canning class at Garden Inspirations. We totally enjoyed the class and will probably attend another in the future.

Already signed up for the Vegetable Class starting in February. I was very inspire to start my own vegetable garden, something I was wanting to do for years but didn't feel I had the knowledge or support system. Now I feel I do!!

From Our Editors

"Gardens are a lot like people,” Marilyn Simmons told Now Magazines. “As they grow and mature, they come into their own.” Marilyn and her daughter Donelle, owners of Garden Inspirations, have their own unique plot. “A Radio Flyer wagon is home to an assortment of flowers and trailing potato vines and an herb garden is flourishing in a nonfunctioning barbecue grill.”

At their farm, the two work to show pupils how to plant their own beds with pesticide-free veggies, which blossom into sources of personal pride. The full schedule of classes includes introductory courses on overcoming the gamut of challenges that aspiring gardeners face, such as inhospitable soil, lack of time, and accidentally planting their car keys. Knowledgeable about diverse garden types—including rooftop, field, and aquaponic—the instructors impart their wisdom on the best kind of garden for each grower’s individual needs, as well as which vegetable varieties grow most readily in North Texas and how to plant them. When not brewing compost tea or working beneath trellises tangled in emerald wisps, the crew does a radio show which talks about how to obtain baskets of naturally grown peaches, cucumbers, and squash.
