At a Glance

Calling upon backgrounds in the military and law enforcement, Proactive Defense’s state- and NRA-licensed instructors train students on what to do should they ever encounter a threatening situation. Utilizing both classroom and live-fire training, our staff teaches everything from basic handling such as reloading and clearing jams, through advanced skills, including drawing from the holster and transitioning through multiple firearms. To support the armed forces, they also organize a scholarship fund for the supplementary training of military personnel who might not be able to otherwise afford it.

Really great place for a quick training session. Since there is not much info online I’ll elaborate. I only got to shoot at the 10yd line, but after a quick skills check I was able to do some much needed holster word and up drill double taps that an indoor range would not allow.

One employee was giving me a hard time about picking up spent brass (that was not mine) after I was told by another employee it was perfectly fine to pickup any and all brass I wanted. Not really sure why any of this is a problem. I am usually very lucky to recover 50-80% of my own brass. There are piles of brass/steel/aluminum cases everywhere at this range. Your foot cannot step anywhere by the firing line without stepping on spent cases. Obviously it is not a priority to pick them up. Many of the cases have been left on the ground so long that many of them are corroded. I even found a live round that was embedded in the dirt.

My wife and I attended on the same day. Excellence from start to end. Experienced and well trained instructors. Attentive and helpful at all times. Both classroom and shooting test were a memorable experience. We will take their training courses soon!
