About Academy of the Arts Denver
Every performer has a different goal. Recognizing this, the [teaching staff](http://aoa-denver.com/our-staff/) at Academy of the Arts-Denver (each a professional in his or her respective field) designs all of their lesson plans around their students' individual goals. These highly personalized plans shape the approach to the school's age-specific, professional and recreational group acting and vocal classes. The teaching staff also uses their 75 years of accumulated experience to focus on talent development, whether students want to break into the business, or perform for the joy of it. Private lessons help build proficiency in guitar, bass, drums, and music production. Though lessons focus on specific technical training, the teachers encourage creative experimentation no matter the genre. Former students have established careers in TV, Broadway, Film, and Music. As they learn, Academy of the Arts-Denver's students are also encouraged to take part in rehearsals and performances.

I'm going to start off by sharing a secret I kept throughout ALL of my childhood, until I was 19. I was Molested and raped by a father figure for 9 years.
The silent suffering molded me into a quiet person who never complained. I let relatives, friends,bosses speak and treat me however they like. I am am 23 and learning to speak up for myself.
I'm sharing this because I know someone will ask ( Why didn't you say something sooner, or Why didn't you stop it)
I Froze and didn't know how to get out of this situation I am about to share with you guys.
On Jan28,2019. I Joined the 9pm Acting class with an AMAZING female teacher ( she teaches tap dance too.)
After class Steven ( I forgot the Vocal teachers name. I think he is also the owner)
Kept me after class to fill out some paperwork.
For 45 minutes. I sat, talking my way out of sex. This man started off by asking me about my background, musical desires, then quickly switched it " Do you thing prostitution should be illegal "
Later complimenting my figure. And getting into my looks. And prostitution.
I was very uncomfortable and didn't even mention the situation to my boyfriend who spent 45 minutes outside. waiting for me to walk out of class.
All I'm saying is that my sexual trauma didn't let me get up and leave. or voice my discomfort.
Although I LOVED my session with the acting teacher.
I never returned. I had also bought some voice lessons. Sadly it was never used because of HIS actions.
It's been months and i'm still hurt and disappointed at myself for how I allowed this situation to play out.
I wish I would've said something sooner. But I'm sharing my experience now because I saw myself In one of the younger girls I met in class ( Isabella) I wasn't in a good place during the time and looking back, I think it was visible. Sis greeted me with a hug.
I hope this review is ok.
I think the owner (voice teacher) is a pervert.

LOVE this place! Great location, amazing instructors, and my daughter absolutely enjoys going to class. She takes acting, vocal and soon guitar. I highly recommend this place.
