Amy is very perky and personable, but I thought I purchased a 3 hour intensive, hands on, tutorial on how to use my complicated DSLR camera, but what I got was an hour of how Amy got into photography, and learned she is self taught and not a professionally trained photographer. There were close to 60 people in the session which was in a banquet room and not a studio, with little or no personal contact or help. The one hour of camera instruction dealt solely with taking photo's of children, no landscapes or night shots, etc. The last hour was Amy telling us about her children. I was disappointed and thought $79.00 ($160.00?) would have bought me more learning about my camera and less about Amy herself. I did not get what I paid for. I am an active Groupon subscriber and this is my first disappointment, I hope Groupon will consider refunding me. I will gladly use it to purchase another camera tutorial and will make sure the class is smaller and much more instructional. I wanted to learn to use my camera, not about Amy.

Hold on to your hats, you certainly get ALOT of information in a two hour span.

Amy is fantastic! She is warm, open, friendly, and generally just a ton of fun. She is a wonderful photographer and I am enjoying her various classes as well. Once you meet Amy, you feel like you have known her forever! Great lady, great business!

I have taken photography classes before, but none compare to yours, Amy. It was as if you knew all of my questions, weaknesses, and trepidation about my DSLR and how to photograph my grandchildren. I am looking forward to the next class!!

Amy is the BEST. Amy has been taking pictures of my children for over 3 years. I have been more than satisfied with her work and she has captured memories of my kids that I will have for the rest of my life. She doesn't just take photos she captures their personalities in her work. I cannot say enough about her. I have recommended her to MANY of my friends and they too have nothing but wonderful things to say about her. We heart Amy!!

I took the Sweet Shots Level 1. I loved the classs. I thought it was a good overview for beginners like me. I was hoping to come away with a little bit more knowledge - I got home and everything I was shooting was blurry. So I've been reviewing my notes and practicing, which has definitely helped. One suggestion I have is to possibly split the classes between Canon and Nikon users. So that if you have this class twice a month - once it is for Canon users and once it is for Nikon. I found that Amy would switch between explaining Canon vs Nikon and then more and more questions would arise. It was somewhat distracting and created a lot of "down time" that I was just sitting there. I think it would be beneficial to get as much info as possible in the 3 hour time frame and think that this would REALLY help! (My class size was 37, I think she said, so maybe it was just an abnormally large class.) But all in all Amy has a great personality and is really enthusiastic and fun to work with/listen to. I would highly reccommend and am considering signing up for Level 2 soon!

From Our Editors

Despite an ever-growing base of more than 1,000 clients, Amy Tripple prefers to say she's honed her skills through her main source of inspiration: her own three children. The former elementary teacher employs her advanced child-handling skills as she captures candid images of young ones, preserving childhood memories more easily than laminating a beloved stuffed animal. The National Association of Child Photographers member also shares her know-how through regular classes that cover the basic elements of DSLR photography and how to manipulate the resulting images in digital scrapbooks and Adobe Photoshop.
