Usually it's a good experience. Not this time. Waited 40 minutes for our meals, they burned my biscuits, and not once did our server check on us during the aforementioned forty minute wait for our food. The guy was nice, but when I have to get up and walk behind the counter to refill my own drink and nobody stops me or offers to get that for me?! Really disappointed this time.

This location had just opened and the wait was over an hour. We were visiting the area, so had to use while we were there. We waited, finally getting a seat at the counter. Very disappointed in food and service. Maybe has improved. But, not good with our visit. Not worth the wait or price. Wouldn't return. Pancakes overcooked, too crowded, bad service.

I am heartbroken that I can't give them a positive review. We loved our OPH in the Seattle area and were thrilled that they were here. We have eaten three times at two different locations here and have been very disappointed each time. The food was not very hot and a couple of menu items didn't even have all of their ingredients. And they don't offer potato pancakes any more. Without potato pancakes, we can get a better breakfast for less at a local restaurant/café.

From Our Editors

Made-from-scratch recipes and fresh ingredients have been setting The Original Pancake House apart from its breakfast-spot competition since 1953. Started in Portland by Lester Highet and Erma Hueneke, it's since become a locally-owned and operated, comfort-food empire committed to generations-old recipes using ingredients such as pure hard-wheat unbleached flour and 93-score butter made from fresh sweet cream.

Today, The Original Pancake House cooks across the country still construct scrambles and omelets from fresh Grade AA eggs. Powdered sugar lines the rims of oven-baked dutch baby pancakes, and granny-smith apples simmer in oven-baked pancakes (two of more than a dozen styles of pancake on the menu). To keep things fresh, the restaurant forsakes the use of freezers: all ingredients are delivered fresh and prepared and served that day. Even the toppings are made in-house, including whipped cream, specialty syrups, and sauces. To complement these flavors, staff fill glasses with fresh-squeezed orange and grapefruit juices and coffee blended specially to match the Original Pancake House's palate. Although each location takes on the local charm of its surrounding city, all of them share in common a homey atmosphere that welcomes families.
