Nefeli's Ristorante takes its name from the Greek goddess of the clouds, and its menu of rustic, yet elegant Italian dishes is appropriately fit for a lofty deity. Roasted quail marinates in cognac before being sautéed with mushrooms and garlic, and rainbow trout sears in a pan of melted butter and garlic. But it’s the pasta that really stands out.
In a review of the restaurant, freelance Edmonton Sun journalist Graham Hicks said: “If I were on a desert island with just one restaurant pasta to eat, it’d be Nefeli’s tortellini sprinkled with parsley and the creamiest tomato sauce. Or its delicious penne putanesca. Or the Nefeli’s penne with crunchy broccoli and seasoned chicken breast strips. … truly this is one of the city’s most outstanding pasta restaurants.”
Plates of the pasta pair with glasses of wine from sunny Tuscany and Venice or with martinis and top-shelf spirits from the back bar.
