I had an event on May 6th and was unable to get into my regular salon. In a rush, I looked around for another salon and a friend recommended I try Spasation as they were currently having a deal for a cut and highlights for new customers. I know that Spasation has been around for a long time and had a reputable name behind it (I have used separation for hair removal and massage services in the past as well) so called and booked the appointment advising the woman that I wanted a full head of highlights and a cut and style. I went to the whyte ave location and was taken to my stylist's chair. I told her that I always get highlights and did not want to change too much with the colour and length because of my upcoming wedding. Immediately she suggested that I dye my entire head rather than doing a full head of foils because it would be "less damaging". I told her that I would really prefer to stick with the highlights as only once in my life had I dyed my entire head and ended up HATING it because it looked orange and took forever to grow out. She kept insisting that I do a solid colour rather than the foils and assured that it would look natural and not orange. After reiterating four times that I was getting married and did not want to change my hair too much and would rather do the full head of foils as I had booked, I finally gave into the pressure of the stylist after she insisted "trust me, the foils will damage your hair too much". Even as she began to apply the colour I felt uncomfortable and worried of what the outcome would look like. Needless to say, it did not turn out well. As soon as the hair was washed and the towel came off, I had that horrible feeling of "why did I agree to this when it is NOT what I wanted?". The hair was orange....not only orange but where my hair had previously been highlighted was now a greyish blue colour. I did not say much and neither did the stylist as she continued to cut layers which were way too short when I had skassaid that I wanted to keep my hair long and only wanted a little bit of long layers. I am assuming that she cut so much because my hair was now fried. I just kind of sat in shock as she finished up and did not say too much. As soon as I got home my husband says "what did you do to your hair?". It looked even worse in the natural light with orange and grey streaks. This was honestly the worst thing that has EVER been done to my hair in my 34 years. I immediately called Spasation and politely told them about the disaster that had happened to my hair, the customer service was wonderful and they assured me that they would do everything to make sure it got fixed, they were able to book me in the following day for a "corrective service". I had an event on the 6th and told the woman on the phone that my hair looked so awful that I would not leave the house. She was very helpful. The next day I organized a babysitter to come and look after my two children while I went in for the second time. I was surprised to see that they had scheduled me with the same hairdresser that had created the whole mess in the first place and even more surprised to see that she herself had a new elaborate cut and colour on her own hair that she had got to work on after I had left the day before. I couldn't help but think that the reason she pressured me into the solid colour rather than the full head of highlights is so that she would have time to work on her own hair after my four o'clock appointment was over. Let's just say that I was not greeted with a happy face, she did not apologize or even want to talk to me. She seems irritated. All she said was "oh yah I was a bit concerned about how the colour turned out yesterday". I was uncomfortable and was worried that another service with this hairdresser may make it worse since she clearly did not know how to handle my hair. She said that the only thing she could do was to tone and highlight my hair to try to get the blue and orange out. I told her that I did not want to damage my hair any more with another treatment but she said it would be fine because it was a toner putting colour back in. The "corrective treatment" may have taken the blue tinge out of the previously highlighted hair, but did nothing to improve the orange hue and this time my hair came out feeling like straw and more fragile than ever. I left without saying a word and bought some purple shampoo in hopes that it would help. I know it is only hair and it will eventually grow back, but this was a disaster and my hair has been ruined for my wedding. It has been quite a few weeks since this happened and I am now faced with the question of how to correct my hair before my wedding. I will need to pay to go an expensive salon in hopes that they will be experienced enough to know what to do. So in the end, although the customer service was very helpful in booking a corrective treatment, I would never come back to this salon or recommend it to anyone. My hair has been ruined, is breaking off like crazy, and it ended up costing me way more money in the long run with having to book a babysitter for a second day, pay for parking for a second day, now pay to fix my hair with a senior stylist, and pay for expensive products to try to correct the damage. Extremely disappointed. I never should have been booked with the same stylist (who I assume is a junior stylist) to correct the mess as she damaged it worse and now my hair will look awful for my wedding. I guess you get what you pay for....even if the Salon has a reputable name behind it.
I love the Spasation downtown in City Centre Mall. However, this one of Whyte Ave is awful. I find the manager changes his/her mind on promos, membership savings, AMA discounts every 5 mins - all in an effort to make you pay full price. I've gone two days in a row and found the "rules" around using the membership discount and AMA discount to be different each day depending on the whim of the manager. I've also gone to the Spasation on Calgary Trail and found the same thing. The manager is awful. Stick to the downtown location. It's awesome.
Went for dermabrasion. Aesthetician (name sounds like Christine with heavy accent) was 30 minutes late. Apparently, she went out to get coffee and some smoke just before I arrived. She did not bother to apologize for the tardiness and pretend as if nothing happened. The worst part is that she has a very strong cigarette smell. You can smell it the moment she steps in the room. Just imagine what I had to put through for 30 mins when she was breathing straight to my nostrils.
The manager is really really inexperienced and doesn't know how to deal with clients. I had six wasted underarm laser treatment with a girl there (who left the spa after getting too many complaints about her), i told the manager and she dealt with it with irresponsibility and after talking to her about these wasted sessions and i literally asked for a compliment , she told me "ok i'll give u one free session". Another thing that she treats clients in a rude way. Today i realized that the receptionist booked me a wrong session and the manager decided to probably give me a lesson how to do my future booking in a really rude way!! She didn't listen to what i was saying , i was explaining that i didn't do the booking on phone i was there and i said i'll repeat the same treatment but i think the receptionist was on her first day and did a mistake. So the manager said in an aggressive way "then next time let the girl tell me what treatment u had" this was super super rude !!!
If u decide to go after all...Go ask for shuranda if its a laser hair removal treatment... afterall she is the only good thing there from my experience .She is amazing ! Goes through the procedure with u in details and informs u with everything. You will be in safe hands with her.
Great haircut, wash nd blowdry by a very nice stylist (Nina in 104th)
Good service. Nina was really good and I loved my highlights... my only comment, 3 hours for highlights... usually it's done in 2 hours max. So, plan to stay there for long time!
Its great but hard to find out the parking so if they will provide the parking stall then it will be awesome!!!
Thanks groupon team:)
