Butterhof's Shady Brook Farm, Egg Harbor City

The history of the farm dates back to 1854, when the Butterhof family started The Chestnut Grove Winery here. With the onset of prohibition in the 1920s, they had to move on to farming corn and tomatoes – and so Shady Brook Farm was born. Gradually, it has become a family-friendly self-service farm, and in 1999, a four-acre corn maze was added. At present, the fall attractions also include scenic hayrides with a stop at a pumpkin patch. Each year, thousands of children and adults visit Butterhof's Shady Brook Farm to participate in the fall family fun. The farm is also known for its own freshly-pressed apple cider.
