Looks matter in the world of pastry, so it's no surprise that Butterwood Sweet & Savory—a spinoff of beloved bakery Butterwood Desserts—would be a beauty. Tucked inside the Hotel Lafayette, the room could be a grand Continental dining room of 100 years ago: carved wooden columns, white tablecloths, panes of leaded glass. It's elegant without being fussy, which goes for the food as well. The menu changes with the seasons, but you might find the restaurant's namesake flavor pairings in dishes such as sticky orange-ginger chicken wings, lamb with butternut-squash risotto, or a pulled-pork sandwich slathered in chipotle-peach barbecue sauce.
