Megan Burnett's been a dancer for more than 20 years and a teacher for part of that time, so it felt natural for her to combine her two passions. The result: Barre Nor Cal, where Megan and her fellow instructors lead students through a ballet and traditional barre-based cardio workout. The practice helps shape longer, leaner muscles, firmer midsections, and increased balance and agility. What's more, the workout is low-impact, meaning it's gentle on joints, even as it targets multiple muscles. Classes take place in a 900-square foot facility with natural light and open warehouse ceilings. The number of students in each class is limited to ensure that each student has enough space to be comfortable and receives enough attention to make the most of their workout.
