With 20 types of regionally inspired hot dogs—from Coney Island's cheddar and chili to Key West's pineapple and finely shredded Hemingway novel—Downtown Dogs certainly lives up to its name. But there's more to this throwback diner than just dogs. There's also half-pound burgers, hand-made daily from locally raised beef and piled high with bacon, fried onions, and Frank's Red Hots, along with Philly cheese steaks. The desserts—think hand-dipped ice cream cones, milkshakes, and fizzy root beer floats—are as classic as the diner's decor, which features red booths and checkered linoleum floors.
