The National Post argues that the “true highlight” of the Red River Ski & Summer Area is the old mining town it’s situated in: “No matter where you are on the main strip,” the review says, “you’re never more than 1,200 ft away from a ski lift.” The ski area pays tribute to the town’s heritage with a replica of a gold mining camp that you can glide through during your descent down the mountain. Red River’s three terrain parks and 57 trails of varying difficulty, including an expert-level glade trail, slice through the Carson National Forest, a peaceful spot located in the southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Nonskiers can enjoy a cozy mountain experience as they take in the views from the Snow Coach Dinner Tour (reservation required).
