Since the 1950s, customers have been flocking to Frozen Dairy Bar for its great frozen custard. Recently, the owners completely remodeled their dessert spot, transforming it into the restaurant known as FDB Eatery.
In the new dining room, patrons dine on on starters such as duck empanadas with cilantro cream, as well as chargrilled burgers, pizza, and filling entrees, including cabernet-braised short ribs.
It may seem like a big change, but FDB Eatery still serves up the same frozen custard that made Frozen Dessert Bar an icon, including the custard-filled milkshakes praised by The Washington Post. It's even still made fresh in the store every day in the same machine that's been used since the 1950s.
Patrons nostalgic for that time can wear their poodle skirt out to dinner or simply gaze at pictures of the original Ruth P. Eakin–designed ice cream shop on FDB Eatery's walls.
