I had an awful experience with this store, which was a chain that I had previously really liked and respected. I bought this Groupon knowing that I wanted to purchase a recliner. The five stores that this Groupon was offered through were all over 45 minutes from my apartment, which I knew before I purchased. However, the store didn't make it convenient at ALL for someone like me to purchase something living so far away.
First of all, I just wanted to know if the chair that I was looking for was in stock at the North Brunswick location. I called them -- they told me it was in stock. My boyfriend called the store shortly after just to verify, and someone else told him it wasn't in stock. (We gave model numbers, colors, etc -- all the information they would need). I don't understand why it was so difficult to answer that very simple question.
Secondly, it was IMPOSSIBLE to get a price. No one would give us a range, an estimate, or any type of information about the cost of this chair. Why would I want to drive an hour away just for you to tell me in person what the price is?? The website doesn't tell any helpful information either. Additionally, you can't order anything over the phone!! What type of business doesn't offer that?? I knew that I would have to make a trip to go pick up the chair, and I really didn't want to do it just to purchase the item because I knew exactly what I wanted, but no one would take my order over the phone. Super annoying and inconvenient.
Thirdly, what happened to customer service!?! The North Brunswick store was AWFUL. When I first walked into the store, I walked casually right past a sales associate, who I didn't realize was a sales associate at first, because he was just staring at the ceiling. Did not say hi. Did not offer to help me. I had to go to the back of the store and ask for assistance to purchase some furniture, and THEN he came running up. When I went to pay for the furniture at the back desk, the girl sitting there was texting for a few minutes before she looked up and realized there was a customer waiting.
Lastly, I was lied to about the product itself. I was very specific (and asked several sales associate over the phone) if the recliner came apart in order to transport it. I have a sedan and I knew that a full-sized recliner would not fit into my car in one piece. I paid one of my friends to bring her SUV to the store to pick it up when the time came, and the warehouse attendant asked me if I wanted to take it apart in order to fit it better in the trunk!! I was so livid! The recliner would have EASILY fit in my trunk and/or backseat, and I wouldn't have had to bother someone else to help. I believe that I was just told that it didn't come apart because they wanted to pay the ridiculous delivery fees (which they added $30 buck to because I wasn't in the "right county").
Overall, this was a mess, and I will probably never shop here again. I was so anxious for this purchase to be over with.
