Since 1857, McClatchy has been committed to delivering fair and honest reporting while remaining fiercely independent. When James McClatchy started The Daily Bee over 160 years ago, he aimed to maintain an independent approach to journalism throughout the small, four-page paper. After the California gold rush, the Daily Bee was later named the Sacramento Bee and expanded to include two other publications. Today, after more than a century of growth, McClatchy operates in 29 U.S. markets and works to find innovative ways to connect with communities through print and digital media. Their list of publications, meanwhile, features the work of many award-winning journalists including Pulitzer Prize awards for explanatory reporting and editorial cartooning.
