Three Things to Know About Cannova’s Italian Cuisine
Cannova’s has been a Freeport staple since 1921, when Anthony Cannova first opened his combination grocery store, pizzeria, and tavern. In the many decades since, the restaurant has prevailed, passing through three generations of family. Read on to learn more about this timeless eatery:
- To this day, many of its recipes remain the same as they were in 1921. The pizza sauce, pizza dough, spaghetti sauce, Italian beef, and bread all stay true to the way Anthony made them generations ago.
- The experience goes beyond just the food. Cannova’s often features jazz quartets, folk groups, and even dinner theater.
- It also hosts regular “paint-and-pour” events. These all-inclusive events include food, wine, paints, and a canvas for guests to create their own masterpieces under the supervision of an experienced artist.
Cannova’s Italian Cuisine was a finalist for The Taste of Groupon Awards.
