They have happy hour at their bar, which is separated by a wall from the rest of the restaurant, making the restaurant part family friendly. Great food and service.

We always get the Coal Fire Salad with Crab or Shrimp, which I highly recommend, but don't know about the other dishes or pizzas.

I was in at what are usually slow hours at a restaurant so maybe my issues are caused by not having the "first team" working. When I asked several questions about the beer list the waiter was not able to answer them. I asked that the bar tender suggest something to accompany what I had ordered. Waiter returned with several suggestion that I had already said I didn't want. The dressing on my salad was watery. The waiter did not come by to check on how the pizza was. Most of the time while I was eating the host was singing along with whatever was playing on the background music. Not something I want to hear. Granted the staff is younger then I am so maybe you are going for a younger demographic and they will support their own. I don't see a reason to do so. The pizza was good. Thin crust was very nice, toppings a little sparse.

From Our Editors

In the mines of northeastern Pennsylvania, workers heave loads of clean-burning anthracite coal and ship them to businesses such as Coal Fire, where chefs scoop the same coal into their 900-degree ovens to bake pizzas and wings. Before baking the pies, the chefs hand-toss the aged dough, then cover it with their signature sauce and thick, house-made mozzarella cheese, as well as toppings such as sun-dried tomatoes and pepperoni procured from local merchants. Outside the kitchen, hardwood floors run past the warm, exposed brick of the ovens while servers slide across the polished floorboards, delivering platters of steaming pizzas and frosty drinks from the full bar.
