It was fun but more like a sideshow than the pirate "experience" that I thought it might be since they are located on the coast.

Our grandkids(age 5-10) loved it. they have pirates but they were not there on the day we went so we will call ahead the next time. however, they give the kids a map and written clues to look for and they had the best time. the manager gave them pirate hats and we stayed quite a while just letting them look and pretend a lot.

It was absolutely no big deal! 3 rooms to walk thru, no dressed up pirates there, boring, asked for our money back for the two in our group who didn't have groupon. Would NOT recommend this to anyone, unless it was FREE!

This place was a joke...When you enter the museum, u do a little quiz and search around for letters throughout the museum to spell out a secret code word. If completed, your prize is a temporary tattoo which is about the same quality of a cracker jack prize. If it weren't for the little trivia game, the visit would last about 5 minutes. The only artifacts in the exzibit were a couple swords, guns, pirate hook, and some fake wooden cannons. The size of the museum was smaller than my 3 bedroom house. It was extremely disappointing to drive 3 hours for this garbage.

Not very big, not a lot to do, too much reading and not enough interaction for children.

Very hard to find. We had to ask another business where they were located. They need better signs and more detailed directions. It is a very good place to take younger children.

Much smaller than I thought, but the kids loved searching for the clues to complete their treasure map. They give you loot at the end once you give them the clue. Super fun for kids. Younger kids that cannot read will breeze through the museum quickly. But it is fun.

From Our Editors

Galveston residents have something in common with notorious French pirate Jean Lafitte: he also called the island his home. Today, they get to climb aboard the full-size deck of a pirate ship to get a glimpse of their dangerous former neighbor's life. While traversing the rest of the interactive exhibits, they may even meet Lafitte himself—as conjured by a skilled actor—along with his brother Pierre and their gritty pirate cronies who downloaded thousands of songs onto their steam-powered laptops. Pirate hosts emcee private events and guide birthday tours through the whole museum, and parties can even include a trip through the nearby Haunted Mayfield Manor for an additional fee.
