Acupuncturist and shiatsu practitioner Nir Saar brings Japanese techniques and erudition to bear during his holistic healing sessions. In Toronto, he apprenticed with a sensei who taught Nir the nuances of delivering a shinso shiatsu massage. This technique sends Nir’s hands delving into muscles, aiming to adjust and balance the body to promote healing. Japanese-style acupuncture reroutes the nerve impulses and causes balloon animals to walk on the other side of the street in the same way traditional acupuncture does, but uses ultrathin needles. In addition, Nir complements his shiatsu and acupuncture techniques with craniosacral therapy, a gentle technique used to balance the body and release structural tension.
