Unfortunately, glass repair is a very scrutinized service in our industry due to the fact that a scar or small blemish always remains after a successful repair. There are many factors why there is a scar including but not limited to: length of time the chip(s) has been on the glass and unrepaired, road debris, windshield washer fluid, rain water and other factors. It is always recommended to repair your windshield as soon as possible to limit the above listed contaminations to ensure a successful and clearer repair. By neglecting the repair it could spread incurring additional costs and result in hundreds of dollars to replace the windshield. We are a repair first facility as we much rather repair your windshield instead of having to replace it as a cost savings to our customers as well as an environmentally sound practice. At Skyline Reflections our procedure when it comes to repairing a windshield is as listed: • First and foremost, we always inform our customers before this service that there will be a small scar or blemish after the repair • Secondly, there is a risk of the chip spreading into a replacement of the windshield because there are two pressurized settings during the repair that cause stress on the windshield resulting in a spread of the chip • Thirdly, we clean the surface area of the repair prior to the full installation to ensure the suction cup will hold onto the windshield for the full duration of the repair (It is a known fact that suction cups do not stick to dirty surfaces) • Our glass repair machine is suction cup based meaning that we cannot repair a windshield unless the suction cup is properly mounted and secured on the windshields surface. • Our standard procedure with our state of the art machine has a built in advanced vacuum setting, which cleans the chip and allows us to continue the procedure to fill the crack and repair the windshield Lastly, in our professional opinion with 22+ years in the auto-glass industry, is that your repair was 100% successful because it did not result in you having to spend hundreds of dollars to replace it with a new windshield. In addition to that, the environmental factor is that your windshield did not end up in a landfill.
