High tea at the Maidstone was disappointing. The food was just okay, the service was uninspired and the space was somewhat shabby.

As a long time year-round East Ender I've been to The Maidstone before so I was familiar with the lovelely, inviting atmosphere. However, I had never been there for high tea. I was very pleased. The selection was as explained. In particular, the muffins were yummy! The service was wonderful. The waitress did not offer a ginger tea and so made one for me specially with fresh ginger and white tea, which was on the menu. We both commented on how good the mixture was. Afterwards, she was considering adding it to the menu!
