It was a fun but pretty quick little outing. My daughter, who loves Elsa, thought it was pretty amazing. Worth seeing once. Very crowded.

Lots of fun! Remember to dress very warm though.

We purchased a Groupon in 2016 but didn't get to use it until 2017. The redemption was seamless. We loved that the castles were a larger area and provided such great photo ops. It is so interesting how these castles are built and what the process is to "grow" icicles. Great attraction and wonderful location at The Homestead this year. Interesting crowd control in half hour windows. Worked great.

This was a ton of fun for my granddaughters. We took the whole family and I think the adults enjoyed it too. We went down the slide. I thought it was worth the wait. Definitely wear boots!

Go early in the season before it starts to melt. Even if it still seems cold enough, the ice starts to melt and changes the shape of the castle. It was still beautiful and fun a few days before it closed, but the ice was melting and dripping on us a bit.

It would have been fun if there wasn't sooooo many people. Our kids couldn't even try the slide because it was an hour long wait to go down one time. And we couldn't even go to the dome because the line was so long. It was ridiculous we couldn't even enjoy it at all because there was way way too many people. Very Disappointed.

Wear good boots (it's super slippery in the deep powder) and snow pants for the kids and really good snow gear for everyone. It was really awesome in the dark with all the glowing lights.

About this Business

Oprah.com called Brent Christensen's Ice Castle in Silverthorne, Colorado "a cavernous, surreal-looking place that looks as if it were constructed by an army of icy elves." The Silverthorne Ice Castle was much smaller than Brent's more recent work, though—it was smaller and without many of the features you'll see now. Brent's kids affectionately nicknamed it "The Ice Castle," but it was child's play compared to the palatial sculptures he and his team now build each year. Scattered across the country, the mazes of towers, tunnels, and caverns are all built from solid ice, one icicle at a time; Brent and his team farm their own icicles for these projects, at a rate of more than 5,000 per day.
