The Kona Bean Cafe at Hilo Hattie, Honolulu

It's quite easy to spend hours at Hilo Hattie's flagship store in Oahu—the shop boasts a massive inventory of made-in-Hawaii goods, including clothing, beauty products, gourmet foodstuffs, and jewelry. Luckily, The Kona Bean Cafe is there too, giving shoppers a place to rest their feet and refuel with locally-made Hawaiian snacks and drinks. There, baristas pour Hawaiian coffee, whip up fruit smoothies, and Dole Whip—an island soft-serve ice cream dessert. Craving more substantial sustenance? Chef Michi Wata­rai, of the popular food truck Cooking Fresh For You, took over the Kona kitchen in the summer of 2014 and now creates healthy, hearty meals there using fresh ingredients.

After a break, patrons can resume shopping, but should be sure to swing by Hilo Hattie's 400XL aloha shirt, which is in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest aloha shirt, and was left behind by Paul Bunyan on his last trip to Hawaii.
