Folks, I would not recommend Athena Gun Range to anyone for the following reasons: Staff obviously have a negative bias towards grouponers which I make some allowance for when one is receiving discounted services However the level of disdain for my presence was unprecedented in my experiences I followed the recommendations to call and make a reservation in advance I showed up 15 mins early to check in and take care of any paper work and additional fees (which is good practice to assume exist with promotional deals) After check in I was directed to rental counter where the instructor where collected as the cashier announced we were using a Groupon the "fun" began The instructors were unprofessional in how they handled the situation and made sure through the entire process we knew they wanted nothing to do with the service and proceeded with the bare minimum required Again fine, no frills or a smile that's alright I had decided I was going to enjoy the company of friend and learn as much as possible about the firearms we wanted to purchase Returning from the range to check out, I encountered the employees talking about us and another couple using the Groupon deal, I then asked so why do you guys hate grouponers so much The response I received from the two standing there was we just get slammed and we have to cover you guys and it wouldn't be so bad if you guys reserved the facilities At this point my friend chimed in we made reservations and were un the system at the check in desk She then asked have you guys talked with your COO to express what improvements could be made to help you succeed to which they responded yes My final assessment is that the instructors and employees could have walked over to the greeting desk what appointments were made for the day and cascade the information to the range and instructor employees to prepare for the day Why, because I was able to get my reservation time and instructor from the info desk because it was entered when I made my reservation 24hours in advance I think it is easier and more acceptable at Athena for the rental and range staff to direct their internal lack of efficiency on the patrons rather than where it should be directed in a team meeting I would also note that fundamental it is bad business to complain that you are "busy" at work as it typically is a sign of being more profitable It is particularly hard to sympathize when you see the same people standing around, I am sorry you were busy In short I have experienced Athena in many different capacities before choosing to come in for a lesson In the store Eric was very helpful and at the booth during Shell Penzoil Houston grand prix the staff were knowledgeable and helpful However if you are looking to purchase or get a lesson under your belt you are better off going down the road to Full Armor Athena's claim over their competition is having state of the art facilities and their simulator system It wasn't worth the unprofessionalism I experienced Intended on getting my friends birthday gift of a 1911 range officer and a Sig i have been eyeballing with Eric in the store department, but couldn't bring myself to do it after we finished our lesson and purchased elsewhere
